Jammu's Heritage Excursion Sites Unveiled
Patni Top: This renowned tourist destination stands tall at an elevation of 2050 meters, cloaked in dense pine and deodar trees. Patni Top draws tourists seeking respite from the summer heat of the plains and winter enthusiasts eager to frolic in the snow. The Jammu and Kashmir government has constructed numerous tourist huts and a youth hostel to accommodate visitors.
Surisar and Mansar Lakes: Brimming with ancient historical significance, the Jammu district boasts several areas of tourist interest, including Surisar and Mansar Lakes. These lakes hold both religious and historical importance, offering boating facilities for visitors. Annually, during the Baisakhi festival, the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department organizes a food and crafts festival near these lakes, which are located approximately 45 and 37 kilometers from the city of Jammu, respectively.
Noori Chhamb: Nestled in the picturesque Poonch district and connected with Mughal Emperor, Noori Chhamb is a breathtaking waterfall situated northeast of Behramgala. This scenic spot holds immense tourist potential, as the cascading stream creates dense clouds of water vapors that envelop the area. Historically, it is believed that the waterfall once plummeted 90 meters from an elevated mound. However, over time, erosion has led to a reduction in height, yet the site remains a captivating sight for visitors to behold.
