Switzerland of Asia(Kashmir)

Kashmir, often hailed as the Switzerland of Asia, boasts a salubrious climate that draws tourists from around the globe. This picturesque region has its own distinct cultural identity known as "Kashmiriat."

The tourist seasons in Kashmir are as follows:
1) Summer: April to June
2) Autumn: September to October
3) Winter: December to February

There are various places of tourist interest in Kashmir, including:

B) Tourist and Picnic Spots in the Kashmir Division:

Pahalgam: Situated at a height of 2650 meters and 96 kilometers from Srinagar en route to the Amarnath cave, Pahalgam is a world-famous tourist resort. The Lidder river flows through it, offering opportunities for trout fishing, camping, trekking, and picnicking. Visitors can also explore beautiful camping grounds and popular trekking routes to Amarnath's Kolahoi glacier.

Sonamarg: Known as the Meadow of Gold, Sonamarg is located 82 kilometers from Srinagar towards the Zojila pass. Surrounded by mountains and adorned with flowers, it offers a serene environment carved by the River Sindh. Sonamarg is a paradise for trekkers and nature lovers, with its pristine lakes, awe-inspiring glaciers, and dense pine forests.

Verinag: Famous for its spring, which feeds the River Jhelum, Verinag is steeped in Mughal history. Constructed by Mughal kings Jahangir and Shah Jahan, the octagonal base and cascade surrounding the spring are marvels of architecture. The spring, with its deep blue water and abundance of fish, attracts tourists to this scenic spot, where remnants of Mughal pavilions and baths can still be found.

Kokernag: Located at a height of 1972 meters and 27 kilometers from Anantnag, Kokernag is the heart of the Bringhi Valley. Known for its peaceful and invigorating climate, it offers abundant mountain springs and jewel-like flower gardens. The main attraction is the spring, which resembles the shape of a chicken's paw and is renowned for its pure and fresh drinking water. Kokernag also boasts camping grounds, picnic spots, and tourist fishing pools, making it a popular destination for nature enthusiasts.
