Paradise turning into burning inferno why? | KUNAN-POSHPORA incident

The KUNAN-POSHPORA MASS RAPE stands as a stark reminder of the atrocities committed against innocent civilians, highlighting the profound impact of silence in the face of injustice. On the tragic night of February 23rd and 24th, 1991, the tranquility of the village was shattered as the army conducted a cordon and search operation. While the male members were ordered out of their homes, the women were subjected to unimaginable horrors of indiscriminate and systematic assault.

The aftermath of this heinous crime was not just the physical scars but the deep social and psychological wounds inflicted on the community. Families were torn apart, and the once vibrant village fell into a state of despair and mourning. The silence that engulfed the village on that fateful morning was a testament to the magnitude of the tragedy that had unfolded.

The social impact of the incident has been profound, with education taking a severe hit. Victims and their families faced social ostracization, with many dropping out of school or university due to the stigma and taunts directed at them. Marrying off children became a daunting task as families struggled to overcome the stigma associated with the incident.

Despite the passage of a quarter-century, justice remains elusive for the victims. The journey towards seeking accountability and redress has been fraught with hurdles and delays. Yet, the resilience of the victims and their unwavering commitment to justice serve as a beacon of hope amidst the darkness.

It is imperative for society, especially intellectuals and advocates of justice, to recognize, acknowledge, and speak out against such atrocities. Only by confronting the past and acknowledging the injustices inflicted can we hope to move forward towards healing and reconciliation. As Martin Luther King Jr. aptly stated, "The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people, but the silence over that by the good people." It is time for society to break the silence and stand in solidarity with the victims of Kunan-Poshpora, ensuring that their voices are heard and their quest for justice is realized.

Blooming dreams | Poem

In the garden of the mind, dreams bloom,
Petals unfurling, casting away gloom.
Each thought a seed, each hope a spark,
In the fertile soil, they leave their mark.

Through the darkness of night, they strive,
Emerging with the dawn, they thrive.
With each gentle breeze, they dance,
In the sunlight's warmth, they advance.

From the bud of imagination, they grow,
With determination, they continue to sow.
Like flowers reaching for the sky,
Blooming dreams never cease to try.

So let your dreams bloom, vibrant and bright,
Guiding you through the darkest night.
For in their beauty, you will find,
The power to transcend the confines of the mind.

AMARNATH YATRA | Pilgrimage | Kashmir

The Amarnath Yatra is a sacred pilgrimage steeped in tradition and spirituality, with each ritual holding profound significance in the hearts of devotees. One such ritual, known as "Chhari Mubarak," is a poignant aspect of this revered journey to the Amarnath cave shrine in South Kashmir, nestled at a breathtaking altitude of 3,800 meters.

At the heart of this ritual lies the revered "Chhari," the holy mace of Lord Shiva, which is ceremoniously carried to the Shankaracharya temple as part of the annual pilgrimage. Adorned in saffron robes, a group of devout Sadhus embark on this sacred journey from its sanctuary at Dashnami Akhara in Budsha Chowk, Srinagar, on the auspicious occasion of 'Shravan-Amavasya,' following ancient customs.

The resonance of conch shells fills the air as pilgrims join in hour-long prayers, infusing the atmosphere with spiritual fervor. Following these rituals, the Chhari proceeds to the Sharika Bhawani Temple at Hari Parbat in Downtown Srinagar, where homage is paid to the divine Goddess, before resuming its journey towards the Amarnath Yatra after a brief interlude.

The journey continues as the Chhari Mubarak is transported to Pahalgam, the traditional base camp along the pilgrimage route, marking the commencement of the ritual phase of the Yatra. Amidst the solemnity of 'Nag Panchami,' the Chhari undergoes purification rituals at Dashnami Akhara before embarking on the final leg of the pilgrimage towards the Amarnath shrine on 'Shravan-Purnima,' culminating the 44-day long journey.

Each year, the Amarnath Yatra attracts over four lakh devotees, drawn by the allure of the sacred cave shrine housing the naturally formed ice "Shivalingam." For pilgrims, this journey represents more than a physical trek; it symbolizes a spiritual odyssey, a quest for divine grace, and a reaffirmation of faith in the eternal presence of Lord Shiva.
