The tourism sector in Kashmir is experiencing a welcome boost, with tourist arrivals in February recording a remarkable 60% increase compared to previous years. Official figures reveal that a total of 45,129 tourists have visited the region so far this month, signaling a significant uptick in tourism activity.
Compared to the figures from last year, which were hampered by the aftermath of the massive floods in 2014, this year's influx of tourists is particularly noteworthy. In February 2023, the total tourist arrivals for the entire month stood at 17,062, while the corresponding figure from the previous year was 21,097.
The current daily average of tourist visits to Kashmir stands at around 2,500, reflecting a steady stream of visitors to the region. The surge in tourist arrivals can be attributed to several factors, including effective marketing efforts by the tourism development authorities.
This year, Kashmir has actively participated in various promotional programs and road shows across cities such as Indore, Nagpur, Raipur, Surat, and Mumbai. These initiatives, coupled with collaborations with local travel bodies, have played a crucial role in generating positive publicity and attracting tourists to the region.
The increase in tourist footfall bodes well for the tourism traders and stakeholders in Kashmir, who are optimistic about the continued growth and development of the tourism sector in the region. With its breathtaking natural beauty and warm hospitality, Kashmir continues to enchant visitors from far and wide, offering them unforgettable experiences amidst its scenic landscapes and vibrant culture.
